FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a Chaplain?
A chaplain is a trained spiritual care professional who provides emotional, spiritual, and existential support. Chaplains are skilled in active listening, meaning-making conversations, and helping people navigate stress, loss, or uncertainty. They combine insights from psychology, counseling, and spirituality to promote healing, resilience, and wellbeing.
How do Chaplains help?
Research shows that spiritual care can reduce anxiety, loneliness, and depression, while increasing overall wellbeing, peace, and life satisfaction. Chaplains use evidence-based approaches such as compassionate presence, active listening, and values exploration to support emotional and spiritual health. Studies in healthcare settings have also found that patients who receive chaplain visits report greater comfort, improved coping, and deeper meaning during times of illness or transition.
Who does Chaplain Connect serve?
Chaplain Connect provides compassionate spiritual care and emotional support for people from all backgrounds and belief systems. Our chaplains work with patients navigating illness or recovery, individuals living with cancer, people experiencing anxiety, grief, or life transitions, as well as caregivers and healthcare professionals facing stress or burnout. We welcome people of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and spiritual traditions. Chaplain Connect offers a safe and inclusive space to explore meaning, purpose, and connection—supporting the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.
Can Chaplains help clinicians?
Chaplains can help clinicians who give of themselves everyday. Studies have found that when chaplains are integrated into care teams, staff experience reduced burnout, stronger teamwork, and greater moral resilience. Chaplains help clinicians process difficult cases, find meaning in their work, and reconnect with their sense of purpose and compassion—enhancing both patient care and professional wellbeing. In this way, Chaplains can help prevent and reduce burnout by creating space for reflection, meaning-making, and emotional renewal. Although we are not integrated into a care team at your hospital, our chaplains at Chaplain Connect have extensive experience working in hospitals with physicians, APRNs, psychologists, social workers and other care professionals. We are happy to provide support to clinicians in any setting.
How does the sliding scale work?
Chaplain Connect is committed to making spiritual care accessible for you while also sustainable for our chaplains. Our fees are based on a sliding scale, which means the cost of each session is adjusted according to your financial situation within our parameters. Before your first visit with us (discovery call or session), we will send you an intake form. The intake form includes questions that help us calculate a fair price. Before your first session with us, we will work together to set a fair rate within our range - typically $50-$65 per hour. If you are able, please consider paying more than $65 so that we can offer more pro-bono sessions for those in need and still maintain our company overhead costs.
Are there any in-person appointments?
No. We do not offer in-person sessions of any kind at this time. Our sessions are done through a HIPAA compliant secure online platform.
